United States Ambassador James Brewster has confirmed that a new extradition treaty will be signed with the Dominican government on Monday, 12 January 2015. Taking part in the official activities celebrating the Day of the Judicial Branch yesterday, Wednesday 7 January 2015, the diplomat told reporters that Dominican authorities have contributed a lot towards the signing of this new convention.
When he was asked about the DICAN missing drugs case, the ambassador simply said “I do not want to talk about any specific case, but in these situations where there are crimes such as these were going to give all the support and cooperation that the Attorney General needs in order to ensure that these people are arraigned and end up in jail.”
