Gigantes win game 3 in baseball playoffs

The Gigantes won their first game in the playoffs against disappointed fans of the Estrellas Orientales who packed the Tetelo Vargas stadium in San Pedro de Macoris yesterday evening, Monday 19 January 2015. Seattle Mariners Robinson Cano batted a hit in the game. Pedro Martinez pitched the symbolic opening pitch to cheers from the fans in recognition of his Baseball Hall of Fame induction in July 2015. Rafael Perez of the Gigantes pitched six solid innings in the 4-0 win. The series returns to San Francisco de Macoris today, Tuesday 20 January 2015. The team that wins the first five games of nine wins the right to play in the San Juan, Puerto Rico Caribbean Series that starts in February.
