Government “must retake control” of transport routes

A former director of the Ground Transport Office (OTTT) is calling on the government to retake control of the country’s transport routes. As reported in El Dia, Andres Martinez said that the deaths caused by rival transport groups would continue in disputes over ownership of the routes. Martinez said that despite the large number of deaths, not even one transport leader has been sent to justice. Police Chief Manuel Castro Castillo said they were on the trail of the suspects in the death of Overmys Guerrero and Angel Javier, two drivers who were killed on Calle Juana Saltitopa in Santo Domingo on Saturday, 17 January 2015.
