Senasa coverage to grow by 400,000

The general manager of the National Social Security Council (CNSS) Rafael Perez Modesto says that 75% of the nation’s poorest citizens are now covered by health plans with the inclusion of 400,000 new affiliates to the National Health Insurance (Senasa) under the subsidized regime. Perez Modesto said that the measure strengthens the Dominican Social Security System, guaranteeing its expansion of coverage and consolidation to the National Health Insurance (Senasa). From 2012 to 2014, the portfolio of affiliates to the Subsidized Regime increased by 31% for a total of 715,842 people who have health services guaranteed. Some 32.7% of these affiliates are in Greater Santo Domingo and Monte Plata, while 67.2% is distributed nationwide, according to the official statistics.
