The Gigantes came from behind to win the 2014-2015 Dominican Winter Baseball Championship at their home stadium, Julian Javier in San Francisco de Macoris on Sunday evening, 25 January 2015. This was their first win in their 18 years in the league. The Estrellas, which had won the first two games, had to add another year to their long streak of failures to win the pennant, 48 years in a row. The Gigantes defeated the Estrellas 5-12 in the final game that took place on Sunday. In the winning game, Maikel Franco batted two homeruns, including one with full bases.
The Caribbean Series starts on 2 February in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Games will last through 8 February. The teams that will be competing are Cuba, Dominican Republic, Mexico, Venezuela and Puerto Rico.
