President Danilo Medina left for Costa Rica early today, Wednesday, 28 January 2015, to take part in the Third Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the Community of Central American and Caribbean States (CELAC).
According to the Presidency, Medina is accompanied by a small delegation comprising Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta, Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo, Regional Integration Minister Miguel Mejia, Presidential security assistant Major General Adan Caceres and personal assistant Carlos Pared Perez.
33 heads of state and government are meeting in Heredia, Costa Rica. The theme of the Summit is “Let’s Build Together” with a focus on the fight against poverty. The delegates will also be discussing a range of issues including the fight against corruption, human rights, the environment, security, immigration and the economy.
President Medina is due to return to the country tomorrow, Thursday afternoon, 29 January 2015.
