Asisa Research says that former President Leonel Fernandez would win PLD primaries with 46.8% of the vote. His wife Margarita Cedeno would receive 28%, senator Reinaldo Pared 12.4%, Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia 7.4%, Attorney General Francisco Dominguez Brito 4%, Economy Minister Temistocles Montas and former CDEEE vice president Radhames Segura 1.2%, and the Dominican ambassador in Washington, D.C. Jose Tomas Perez 1%.
The poll showed that 60% prefer the ruling PLD party, 19% identified with the PRD, 13.9% with the PRM, 1.7% with the PRSC, 0.9% with Alianza Pais and 4.5% with other parties or showed no preferences.
The poll was carried out from 29-31 January and 1,512 eligible voters were polled. Asisa director Lilian Pagan says it was financed by businesspeople, but would not divulge their names.
