Local fans can watch Victor Estrella, ranked 52nd in the world by the Association of Tennis Professionals, playing at the Santo Domingo Tennis Club (La Bocha) this week. The club in Arroyo Hondo is hosting the ATP-endorsed Santo Domingo Challenger event, the Milex Open on its green clay courts. There is US$50,000 in cash prize money. The 2015 Milex Open is the first event in the tournament that is part of the 2015 ATP Challenger Tour. The event, which started on Saturday 7 February, continues until Sunday 15.
The event is the first professional Challenger level tennis tournament being held in the Dominican Republic.

“Victor Estrella returns home to what will be a hero’s welcome in Santo Domingo after beating Feliciano Lopez for the Ecuador Open Quito crown, his first on the ATP World Tour. Five-time ATP Challenger Tour champion Estrella is the top seed at the inaugural Milex Tennis Open, which is the first tournament to be held in the Dominican Republic in the history of the Challenger circuit.”
Admission is free to see the games. The schedule is Monday to Friday (9-13 February) games start at 4pm. And Saturday 14 and Sunday, 15 games start at 3pm. The inauguration is Monday, 9 February at 6pm.
