New nursery and high school in Los Alcarrizos

President Danilo Medina inaugurated a nursery for 226 children and a new high school for 770 students in Los Alcarrizos, Santo Domingo West yesterday, Tuesday 10 February 2015.

The nursery school cost RD$36 million and the Professor Virgilio Casilla Minaya High School was built at a cost of RD$61 million, says the Presidency.

Nursery school director Altagracia Richard said that they would take in children from 45 days old up to the age of five. The school has 10 separate areas for the babies and children plus administrative offices.

After cutting the inaugural ribbon at the nursery, President Medina and his entourage moved on to Los Cocos for the formal opening of the Professor Virgilio Casilla Minaya High School, with 22 classrooms.

Education Minister Carlos Amarante Baret also attended the ceremony along with Miguel Pimentel Kareh, director of the Office of Supervising Engineers of State Works (OISOE), provincial governor Juan Frias, Presidency Special Programs director Pedro Luis Castellanos and Special Presidential Assistant Danilo Diaz Vizcaino who coordinates the nursery program.
