The Medina administration collected RD$45.39 billion in fuel taxes in 2014. This was 90.5% of the RD$50.13 billion it had estimated. The decline is due in part to the fall in oil prices abroad, but also because the increase in consumption at 2.3% was lower than projected.
Government taxes in 2015 are likely to decrease further, given the significant drop in oil prices this year.
