This year’s Santo Domingo Music Festival includes two concerts in the Colonial City. One takes place at the small Capilla de los Remedios on Friday, 6 March at 8:30pm, Ole Hispanoamerica with Dominican soprano Nathalie Pena Comas performing works by leading Spanish composers including Joaquin Rodrigo, Joaquin Turina and Federico Moreno Torroba. She will be accompanied by pianist Elioenai Medina, also from the Dominican Republic.
A second performance will take place on Tuesday, 10 March at the Regina Angelorum Church. This time Dominican violinist Aisha Syed will play works by Vivaldi, Kuusisto and Piazzola accompanied by the youth orchestra conducted by Maestro Darwin Aquino.
On Thursday, 12 March a chamber music recital will also take place at the Regina Angelorum Church with performances by the main musicians from the Santo Domingo Music Festival Orchestra and famous orchestras in the United States and Europe.
