Public Works Minister Gonzalo Castillo says that the new road at the intersection of 27 Febrero and Privada avenues will cost around US$15 million to build and will be ready by November 2015. He said that five alternative routes will be provided for drivers while the work is underway. Odebrecht and Grupo Estrella are the contractors.
Speaking to reporters, Minister Castillo also commented on the importance of the recently opened Santo Domingo bypass. He said it would have a major impact on industrial development and interregional traffic flow. He pointed out that the highway now links the fuel terminals at Haina with the Cibao area in the north and the east.
