Vice President Margarita Cedeno has announced the launch of a comprehensive socio-economic database accessible to the general public. The system implements the Self Service of Data of the Unique System of Beneficiaries (Siuben), and is described as a tool for understanding the country’s socio-economic situation so that it can continue progress towards sustainable development.
The presentation of the Siuben database was held at the Unibe University yesterday, Tuesday, 24 February 2015. Rector Julio Amado Castanos Guzman accompanied the former First Lady during the presentation.
The Ministry of Economy also has an extensive socio-economic database online, especially the 2010 Poverty Atlas. The National Statistics Office has the most extensive database and much of the data is available online. The United Nations Development Program also has published several reports with key socio-economic data, including a recent report on the socioeconomics of households in the Dominican Republic.
