Newly appointed Dominican ambassador in Washington, D.C., Jose Tomas Perez says that the main issues on his agenda are trade, labor and Haiti. He said he would be working on issues related to the Trans Pacific Partnership between the US and Pacific-facing nations that could affect DR trade with the US. Another priority is to prove that there is no child labor in sugar cane fields and to monitor follow-up to Dominican-Haitian relations in the United States, especially in regards to the lack of true information. He said that organizations in the US have been receiving biased and one-sided information. “In Washington, Ambassador Anibal de Castro did a good job and we will continue it. We believe that by presenting correct information the attitude and prejudices against the DR will disappear,” he said.
