Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta says that the DR exported over 10 million pairs of shoes to the US last year, which is up 10.5% compared to 2013. He said that the DR is one of the five countries in the world with growth in footwear exports. The country is now the ninth largest footwear exporter in the world.
Peralta said that more than 17,000 jobs have been created by the footwear industry. The brands being manufactured here include Timberland, Wolverine, Sperry, Clarks, Sebago, Bass, Rocky, Johnston & Murphy and Allen Edmonds.
