The Seattle Mariners will be moving their baseball academy from Venezuela to the Dominican Republic and centralizing their baseball-training program for the whole of Latin America and the Caribbean in this country.
This will begin in the 2015 season, and team officials say that they will have two teams in the Dominican Summer league.
The announcement has come following Venezuela’s decision to impose visa requirements on US citizens, which has complicated the team’s operations.
According to the Mariners’ general manager, Jack Zduriencik, the new academy will house 80 baseball players and will be based in Boca Chica
