Presidency objects to comments by deputy Vinicio Castillo

Legislator Vinicio Castillo Seman is being asked to calm down by the Medina administration. Castillo is in government due to the alliance between his father’s political party, Fuerza Nacional Progresista, and the ruling PLD. He became a legislator when handpicked by his brother who was appointed Minister of Energy and Mines by President Danilo Medina.

On Friday, 13 March 2015, President Medina’s spokesman Roberto Rodriguez Marchena reprimanded the deputy, saying that over the past 31 months he has posted insults aimed at President Danilo through his Twitter account. He criticized a tweet posted on 10 March where Castillo wrote:

“And to leave government through the main door next year with the enormous satisfaction of duty fulfilled. Not becoming a midget like ambitious HM [Hipolito Mejia] did in 2002!”

Some of Medina’s followers have interpreted this statement as Castillo calling President Medina a midget.
