According to Police, a 24-year old woman, Kindelly Dominguez Mercado, who was six months pregnant and was kidnapped on Friday, 13 March 2015, was released without any ransom being paid. Police spokesman Colonel Jacobo Mateo Moquete said that investigations showed that the kidnapped woman’s father Kedwin Martin Dominguez and Jose Rafael Fermin Garcia (Fermin el loco) had taken assets with an undisclosed value from the kidnapper, named as Ramon Joel Taveras Batista (El Chory). An arrest warrant is out for Taveras Batista, accused by the Police of planning and carrying out the kidnap in an alleged attempt to collect on a drug-related debt. The kidnapper was asking for US$591,000 in cash and 47 kilos of cocaine, according to the Police. The woman was released in La Vega on Saturday 14 March 2015.
