Telecommunications company Tricom reported that on Thursday, 12 March 2015, the company was affected by a massive shutdown of their Internet service due to a problem affecting the submarine optic fiber cables that provide their international connection. They explained there was a cut in the optical fiber submarine of the Antillas 1 Cable System, the undersea fiber optic network that links the Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico. Technicians were at work to restore the service and investigate the causes of the break in the optical fiber cable.
