The Presidency reports on a meeting between Minister of the Presidency Gustavo Montalvo and Senate president Cristina Lizardo and Chamber of Deputies president Abel Martinez on Monday, 16 March 2015 to coordinate the legislative proposals on the President’s agenda for 2015. Both are members of the ruling PLD party.
At the start of the meeting, Minister Montalvo said that President Medina had outlined the key actions for the year in his State of the Nation speech on 27 February 2015 and the Presidency wanted to ensure that Congress was aware of the priorities set to help thousands of Dominicans.
The projects include new bills for the National Police, land-based transport and road safety, business classifications, sanitation, small and medium-sized businesses, health service networks and the National Housing Bank.
At the end of the meeting both Lizardo and Martinez promised to study the proposed new laws and push them forward.
