The Dominican authorities have extradited Spanish businessman Jose Maria Gil Silgado, former president of the Football Club Xerez CD, who was arrested in early November 2014 in Santo Domingo on charges of crimes against the public treasury.
Gil Silgado left the country on a normal Iberia flight to Madrid accompanied by Spanish police officers.
The extradition, which had been postponed several times, was finally approved in late February. Meanwhile Gil Silgado was in detention at the Headquarters of the National Drug Control Agency (DNCD).
According to the Spanish authorities, the 63-year old businessman still has to serve two years of his prison sentence, after being convicted for evading 528,865 euros in taxes.
