Foreign Relations Minister Andres Navarro is in Washington, D.C. for meetings on trade, security and immigration with Western Hemisphere director from the National Security Board at the White House, Ricardo Zuniga, and with Organization of American States (OAS) Secretary General Jose Miguel Insulza.
Navarro also met with congressmen Charles Rangel and Albio Sires, member of the sub committee for the Western Hemisphere from the Foreign Relations’ Committee of the House of Representatives.
The meeting with Insulza, which took place at the OAS headquarters, was also attended by OAS assistant secretary Alberto Ramdin.
The meetings are part of a busy agenda of meetings and visits made prior to Navarro attending the OAS Summit of Foreign Ministers today, Wednesday 18 March 2015.
The Ministry of Foreign Relations reported that during the meetings Navarro discussed the issue of respect for human rights, which is now a fundamental focus for the Dominican Republic’s foreign relations policy, and gave an update on the implementation of the National Foreigner Legalization Plan.
