The Santo Domingo Water and Sewer Corporation of (CAASD) has launched a cleanup of several creeks and streams that flow into the Isabela and Ozama rivers as part of a major plan by the Presidential Commission for the Sustainable Preservation of the two rivers. According to El Nuevo Diario, CAASD director Alejandro Montas said that nearly a hundred Corporation employees are taking part in the operation, which includes unplugging the sewer system in Gualey. According to Montas, the CAASD is playing an active part in all the Presidential Commission’s work on cleaning up the watersheds of these two rivers in order to improve the lives of local residents. In addition to the cleanup work, the brigades will be repairing leaks and damage to ensure that the sewer systems in the area work properly.
