AEIH says administrative corruption mocks business

The Association of Industries of Herrera and the Province of Santo Domingo (AEIH) has expressed serious concern about the level of damage to the reputation of the Judicial Branch as well as the court decisions that are overwhelmingly rejected by society. Antonio Taveras Guzman said that sectors were justified in expressing their surprise at the course that has been taken by the judiciary in cases of administrative corruption involving government officials who manage public funds. He said that administrative corruption is a social crime that affects the pockets of all citizens, steals their efforts, the fruit of honest work and is a mockery of the business sector that creates wealth and complies with tax obligations.

He recalled that Art. 146 of the Constitution condemns corruption: “Anyone who misappropriates public funds or who, by taking advantage of a position in a government branch or department, or a dependent or autonomous agency, obtains an economic benefit for himself or a third party, shall be punished according to the law;

Likewise anyone who provides benefits to his or her partners, relatives, friends or acquaintances shall be punished; As provided by law, all public officials shall submit a sworn affidavit of their assets, the origin of which they must establish before and after completing their duties, or at the request of the appropriate authority.”
