Government debt to generators reaches US $700 million

Dominican Electricity Industry Association (ADIE) president Marcos Cochon says that the government owes the electricity generating companies some US$700 million. He complained of the manner in which payments are being made, saying it was not sustainable because the arrears damage the generators’ credit and limits their capacity for investment. He called for a meeting with Minister of Hacienda Simon Lizardo to explain the situation and find a win-win solution. He revealed that he has been asking for an appointment since September 2014 but so far has not received any answer, as reported in Listin Diario.
