New Dominican Embassy in Panama

President Danilo Medina was at the formal opening of the new Dominican Embassy and Consulate in Panama City yesterday, Thursday 9 April 2015, accompanied by his wife, Candida Montilla. The new embassy is located on the 26th floor of El Tornillo, an emblematic, blue, corkscrew-like modernistic skyscraper that is a Panama City landmark.

Foreign Relations Minister Andres Navarro also attended the event, along with Interior and Police Minister Ramon Fadul, Presidency Minister Gustavo Montalvo and Administrative Minister Jose Ramon Peralta. A group of Dominican business leaders who will be taking part in a business forum as part of the summit, including Felipe and Juan Vicini, Ligia Bonetti, Jose Miguel Gonzalez, Jose Singer, Rafael Blanco Canto, Frank Rainieri, Rafael Paz, Juan Jose Arteaga and Fernando Villanueva were also present.

The Dominican ambassador in Panama is Cesar Medina, and formal diplomatic relations with the Central American country date back to 1937.

President Medina was also accompanied by TV journalists Nuria Piera of NCDC, Alicia Ortega of SIN and Roberto Cavada of Telenoticias.
