Pipeline leak affects 75,000 water users in Boca Chica

The Boca Chica Aqueduct Corporation (Coraabo) is confirming that a fault caused by excavations for the expansion of the Las Americas Expressway has left around 75,000 users without water service.

Engineer Fermin Brito, executive director of Coraabo, said that several pipeline leaks were caused by Constructora Rizek in the process of expansion works on the La Caleta-Boca Chica highway.

He said the breakdown has affected local water supplies, including hotels and the Las Americas International Airport. The water supply has been cut by half.

He also said the problem is also affecting several large industries in the area like Cartonera del Caribe, Las Americas Free Zone, Quality Hotel and roadside restaurants along the highway.

He said that Coraabo units were working to resolve the situation.
