The founding president of the Spanish Martinon hotel group, Enrique Martinon Armas, director Enrique Martinon Garcia and Codelpa construction company president Alvaro Pena were in Punta Cana yesterday, Monday 13 April 2015 for a meeting with President Danilo Medina. The group announced that construction of the company’s sixth hotel would start in 45 days’ time in the Uvero Alto area to the north of Punta Cana.
As reported by the Presidency, the Martinon group is investing US$85 million in the 502-room property. The Martinon group-owned properties in the Punta Cana area including the Secrets Royal Beach, Now Secrets Royal Beach Punta Cana and Now Larimar Punta Cana, Breathless Punta Cana, and the Breathless Resort & Spa. The properties are marketed by AmResorts.
Speaking for the Martinon group, Fernando Escribano said that it was a great honor to see President Medina’s support for the tourism sector and that the Dominican Republic was the Martinon Group’s preferred tourist destination.
Spain is the third-largest investor nation in the Dominican Republic, having invested EUR1.852 billion (about US$2.5 billion), or 18.4% of the total foreign investment, after the United States and Canada, according to Dominican Central Bank figures.
