Yesterday, Monday 13 April 2015, the northwestern town of Navarrete was the scene of a series of protests called by the Popular Front and other organizations campaigning against corruption.
The strike was called for 48 hours and businesses, schools and transport are all closed down in protest against the judges who ruled in favor of Senator Felix Bautista and the mayor of San Francisco de Macoris, Felix Rodriguez.
Before the strike began someone threw an explosive device into Mayor Amantina Gomez’s garden. It caused no damage and no one was injured.
There was a large police presence in the area and today, Tuesday April 14, a 48-hour strike has been announced for Salcedo.
