South African sent back to DR to face charges

Interpol has captured a South African national at Panama’s Tocumen International Airport. Patrick Mpolomena was on the run from the Dominican Republic, accused of fraud and robbery.

He was returned to the Dominican Republic on Sunday 12 April 2015 accompanied by agents from Dominican Interpol. In the DR he faces a maximum sentence of 20 years in jail.

On arrival at Las Americas International Airport he was handed over to the National Police Fraud Investigation Department and from there he will appear in court in order to determine his terms of remand in custody or bail.
