FNP will stop government support

The president of the National Progressive Force Party (FNP) Marino Vinicio Castillo (Vincho) has announced that he and other members of the FNP will back down from all agreements and resign their government posts if the change to the Constitution goes ahead to allow re-election without a general referendum being called.

He also confirmed that he would break the electoral agreement with the ruling PLD for the 2016 elections, which has been in place for 22 years.

His son, deputy Vinicio Castillo Seman said he would oppose any proposal to amend the Constitution to allow President Danilo Medina’s consecutive re-election.
