The US Embassy Green Team with the support of the Ministry of Environment is celebrating a Green Fest at the National Botanical Gardens in Santo Domingo on International Earth Day, Sunday 26 April 2015 starting at 10am. In a press release, the US Embassy points out that the Dominican Republic is considered the eighth most vulnerable country in the world due to its high risk of natural disasters, beach and coral reef erosion. The festival seeks to enhance family awareness of the importance of conserving the environment and taking action to reduce human impact on the planet. Rock band Miguel Angel Soul and DJ Poteleche will be providing live entertainment. There will be 70 booths, many with recyclable arts and crafts, and the program includes educational workshops and children’s activities.
