DR Interpol chief dismissed

According to a source at the National District Public Prosecution office, the head of Interpol in the Dominican Republic, Roberto Alvino Filpo, is under investigation for allegedly failing to issue an international arrest warrant against the executives of the bankrupt Peravia Bank.

As a result, the bank executives who fled the country, Jose Luis Santoro, Gabriel Jimenez Aray and Daniel Alejandro Morales have not yet been arrested.

The source said that despite National District Prosecutor, Yeni Berenice Reynoso issuing the arrest warrant via a judge, none of the fugitives are on the Interpol register.

The source went on to say that the Interpol chief in the DR has been relieved of his duties and had been replaced by another colonel. In addition, the former Interpol chief Horacio Veras is under investigation for alleged links to the former Banco Peravia president Jose Luis Santoro.
