Ex-VP won’t help in commission

PLD party Political Committee member, former Vice President Rafael Alburquerque confirmed that he did not attend the meeting of the PLD commission that was set up to work on the proposal to reform the Constitution to open the way for President Medina to seek reelection, yesterday afternoon, Tuesday 21 April 2015.

However he said that as he was one of the 12 who voted against the proposal, his involvement would be “very limited” and he had little to bring to the table.

Speaking during a TV interview on the Enfoque matinal show, Alburquerque said that he was in a difficult position and he had only found out he was on the commission via the press. He said he had not been officially informed.

Albuquerque warned that this re-election process would have a political cost for President Danilo Medina as well as for the party as a whole.

He reiterated that he did not know what he could contribute to the commission, and the person who should be involved was the Legal Adviser to the Executive Branch, Cesar Pina Toribio who also voted against re-election.
