The National Meteorological Office (Onamet) says that the current heatwave and lack of rainfall will continue for the next 24 to 72 hours.
However, there could be some late afternoon showers in the northwest, Los Haitises, the border region and the central mountain area, say forecasters.
Due to the high temperatures, caused by the wind from the east-southeast, Onamet is advising members of the public to avoid the sun from 11 in the morning until 4 in the afternoon.
