New British Ambassador

A new British ambassador to the Dominican Republic has been appointed.

Christopher Campbell will replace Steven Fisher, who will be transferred to another diplomatic service appointment. The new ambassador will take up his appointment in October 2015.

Campbell joined the Foreign and Commonwealth Office in 1982 and has held a range of positions in bilateral and multilateral missions around the world with his most recent position as non-resident Ambassador to Nicaragua.

On hearing of his appointment he said, “I am delighted and honored to be appointed to this position in a country with such a long and distinguished history. I look forward to further developing our already strong political and cooperation links with the Dominican Republic. Building on our existing trade links, I am looking forward to working closely with the government in Santo Domingo on a wider range of issues of mutual interest and benefit.”
