According to the latest poll carried out by Lupa Market Research, President Danilo Medina and the PRSC and AP party candidates, Federico (Quique) Antun Batlle and Guillermo Moreno are the three party leaders with the highest increases in approval among the electorate over the last four months.
The poll also shows that if the elections were to be held today, the PLD would receive 61% of the vote, the PRM 16%, the PRD 11%, the PRSC 9% and the others make up the final 2%.
In December 2014, Medina had an approval rating of 56% as the politician with the best prospects and that at the time of the poll stood some 14% points higher. Antun Batlle has gone from 6% to 9% and Moreno from 23% to 27%.
The poll also shows that the politicians who have lost the most ground since December are Leonel Fernandez, going from 51% to 32% and his wife, Margarita Cedeno also dropping 26 points. Amable Aristy Castro’s popularity has also dropped from 19 % to 3%. Luis Abinader has dropped six points, Hipolito Mejia four points and Miguel Vargas three.
The same poll revealed that 63% of Dominicans are in full agreement with the proposal to change the 2010 Constitution so President Danilo Medina can run for re-election. Another 10% say they agree, but on certain conditions. Only 25% expressed opposition to changing the Constitution.
The research was carried out from 6 to 11 April 2015 with a sample of 900 and a margin of error of plus or minus 3.27%.
