The Deputy Minister for Competitiveness at the Ministry of Economy, Planning and Development, Juan Reyes, is optimistic the country could have a bankruptcy law by the end of May 2015. He said the bill, which has been in study in Congress for over 10 years has finally passed a first reading in the Chamber of Deputies, which is expected to complete the second reading soon. The bill includes provisions that are important to keep jobs and benefit the economic stability of the country. The bill establishes a six-month freeze on interest rate charges by suppliers for the restoration of a company.
