At a press conference yesterday, Tuesday 28 April 2015, the Dominican Telecommunications’ Institute (Indotel) warned service providers that they must stop charging for unauthorized services like equipment maintenance, equipment such as modems and telephones and networks inside homes.
Indotel explained that the users were the owners of their internal networks and they could choose whoever they wanted to purchase equipment from or carry out maintenance.
Indotel urged customers to check their bills and if they had been charged for maintenance they should claim a refund under the current refund regulations.
Indotel went on to say that service suppliers should respect consumers’ right to choose and warned they would take whatever measures necessary to protect these rights.
