Yesterday evening, Wednesday 29 April 2015, President Danilo Medina appointed (via decrees 113-15 and 114-15) the new heads of the Migration Agency, the Ministry of Energy and Mines, the National Border Council, and the Ethics and Governmental Integrity Office. The new appointees will replace the members of the National Progressive Force (FNP), a PLD ally party, who recently resigned from these posts in opposition to the government not calling a National Referendum to decide on changing the Constitution in order to reinstate re-election.
Ricardo Taveras Blanco of Migration is being replaced by Major General Ruben Paulino Sem, who was the Army chief of staff. Major General Gerardo de los Santos Mora, a deputy minister of Defense, was promoted to replace Paulino Sem.
At the Ministry of Mines Pelegrin Castillo is replaced by Antonio Isa Conde, a former CDEEE executive vice president, and Petruska Munoz, as deputy minister.
Nolberto Rondon is being replaced by Donny Santana Cuevas at the Border Council.
FNP president Marino Vinicio Castillo is being replaced by Jose Joaquin Bido Medina, who is a member of the PLD Political Committee.
