Dominican Wings, a new airline based at Las Americas International Airport has taken delivery of its first aircraft, an A320-200, which arrived on Sunday, 3 May 2015. The aircraft was formerly owned by Avion Express in Lithuania and will be used to complete as estimated by the middle of this month the carrier’s certification with the Dominican Institute of Civil Aviation (IDAC).
The start-up, which secured its Air Operators Certificate (AOC) from the Civil Aviation Board (JAC) in late 2014, has revised its launch plans with charter flights to Trinidad now on the cards.
Airline president Eddy Tineo says that Dominican Wings is still in negotiations with Argentinean tour operators over planned flights from Buenos Aires to Punta Cana and Puerto Plata during the summer season later this year.
