Banking Superintendent Luis Armando Asuncion has announced that the 320 depositors who had more than RD$500,000 in the dissolved Banco Peravia can now have their money refunded but only up to RD$500,000 as established by the Contingency Fund guarantee.
They should go to the Banco de Reservas with identification documentation together with the Deposit Validation Form issued to them by the Banking Superintendence. They would then have a choice between taking their money in cash and depositing it in BanReservas. He said that this was the second stage of refunds.
The depositors receiving these payments comprise 4.54% of the bank’s account holders who were affected by its collapse.
Depositors who had 500,000 or less in the bank have already been authorized to remove their savings or open accounts at the BanReservas.
