Migration acknowledges delays in overtime payment

The new director of Migration Agenc, Major General Ruben Paulino Sem has acknowledged there have been delays in the payment of overtime to immigration inspectors. Employees say they have not been paid overtime since November 2014. Paulino Sem said this covers the period from January to April 2015. Inspectors working on the 6pm to 6am shifts are paid overtime from funds contributed by the airlines operating evening flights. Nevertheless, Paulino Sem, who has been in the post for barely a week, said that General Alexis Santana and finance director Colonel Wilson Castillo were looking into the case. Paulino Sem said that he had learned about the situation from a report in a report in Diario Libre.

Former Migration director Jose Ricardo Taveras told Diario Libre that of the total collected from the airlines, 75% is distributed to the employees and 25% to Migration. He said the payments for January and February were being processed by the National Controller Office and denied any irregularities.
