President Danilo Medina was at the Plaza de la Salud Hospital yesterday, Tuesday, 12 May 2015, to visit the cardiovascular wing that is due to open at the Center for Diagnostics and Advanced Medicine (Cedimat). The building has eight floors and covers more than 30,000 square meters.
Administrative Minister of the Presidency Jose Ramon Peralta accompanied the President during his visit. Extra funds are needed to finish the heart care center and President Medina said the government would help as much as it could. Plaza de la Salud and Cedimat are government owned hospitals that are run by a private board.
The President arrived at Cedimat at 8:43am and met with the board members for around two hours. He was received by the chairman, Cardinal Nicolas de Jesus Lopez Rodriguez, along with board members Jose Miguel Bonetti, Jose Luis Corripio, Marisol Vicens, Mario Garcia, Oscar Villanueva, Agustin Lopez Rodriguez, Milagros Urena, medical director Jose Rafael Yunen, and Cesar Jose Herrera, director of the cardiovascular center.
