Drugs confiscated at Punta Cana airport

The National Drug Control Agency (DNCD) has announced that its agents have confiscated four packages of a white powder, thought to be cocaine or heroin, from a Dominican passenger who arrived at the Punta Cana International Airport from Bogota, Colombia.

The drugs were found in the man’s luggage when he was passing through Customs and aroused DNCD agents’ suspicion. They then checked his luggage in the presence of La Altagracia province prosecutor, Juan Carlos Monegro.

The confiscated substance was sent to the National Forensic Science Institute (INACIF) for analysis, and the man was detained pending a pre-trial hearing.
