Queen Letizia of Spain arrived at Las Americas Airport yesterday, Monday, 25 May 2015 due to a technical stop needed by the plane she was traveling in to Honduras. She is going to Honduras to discuss cooperation programs being developed by the Spanish government there.
The Spanish Royal Air Force airplane arrived at Las Americas at 11:45am and continued to Tegucigalpa around two hours later once it had been refueled and a technical check carried out.
Spanish Ambassador Jaime La Cadena and a delegation of airport, civilian and military personnel met Queen Letizia at the airport’s Presidential Lounge.
Her security and press staff did not allow photographers and journalists to approach the Queen, on the grounds that there were agreements with the Honduran press for the official visit.
