Sunrise to fly regular from Port-au-Prince

Sunrise Airways has announced it will operate regular flights from Port-au-Prince to northern Santo Domingo’s La Isabela International Airport (JBQ). The announcement comes as part of the Haitian airline’s plans to continue to expand to other destinations in the Caribbean. Sunrise is the first Haitian airline to obtain a permit for regular flights to the Dominican Republic.

Upon making the announcement of the authorization for regular flights to Santo Domingo, Sunrise Airways president Philippe Bayard said: “We’ve taken another big step forward with this announcement, one that will have a significant impact on our ability to successfully grow our route network in the months to come… My hat goes off to our dedicated team whose commitment to excellence in every phase of our operations made this possible. We’re proving something that many would’ve likely thought impossible not long ago: that Haiti can produce a world-class airline,” as reported in Haiti Libre.

The new Sunrise Airways regular service to Santo Domingo builds upon its scheduled operations between Port-au-Prince and Santiago de Cuba. Travelers can connect on same-day service from Santo Domingo to Santiago de Cuba, via Port-au-Prince or vice versa.

Sunrise Airways also operates 52 weekly scheduled domestic flights between Port-au-Prince and Cap-Haitien – four rotations daily Monday-Saturday, plus two rotations on Sundays.
