Foreign Minister Andres Navarro was in Madrid on Friday, 12 June 2015 for a meeting with his Spanish counterpart Jose Manuel Garcia Margallo and Interior Minister Francisco Vasquez. Navarro addressed issues affecting the Dominican Diaspora in Spain. The Ministry is in the process of setting up the Institute of Dominicans Abroad (Index) to contribute to cohesion and social protection of Dominicans living abroad. Navarro says the Index is part of the new foreign policy that is being enacted by the Medina administration following his appointment in 2014.
Navarro had traveled to Europe last week to represent the Dominican Republic at the EU-CELAC Summit held in Brussels.
