The Executive Branch has sent a US$632.5 million loan contracts to Congress to finance the construction of coal-fired power plants by the Dominican Public Electricity Corporation (CDEEE). The government signed the loans with the Deutsche Bank, Banco Santander, ING Bank and Societe Generale on 20 May 2015. US$550 million of the total will finance the plants, and another US$82.5 million will cover the insurance with an Italian insurance company (SACE).
