Tourism Minister Francisco Javier Garcia was at the Vatican yesterday, where he was received by Pope Francisco. Garcia was accompanied by his wife Jeanis Hernandez. During the meeting, Garcia invited Pope Francisco to visit the Dominican Republic. He praised Pope Francisco for being a promoter of family unity and for his support to young people.
Garcia told the Pope: “In the Dominican Republic we are awaiting your visit with great enthusiasm and love because we are a truly Catholic people and it was here where the evangelization of the New World got its start.”
As reported, Pope Francisco told Garcia: “It is I, Mr. Minister, who has the wish and the interest of visiting the Dominican Republic. ”
